Sam and the Womp and EofE headline Lichfield Rocks Festival
Lichfield Rocks Festival

For the first time ever, this year’s Lichfield Rocks Festival will take place over a full weekend across two stages, from Saturday June 27 – Sunday June 28, headlined by chart toppers Sam and the Womp and fast rising rockers EofE.

The event, which is held at The Bowling Green Inn in Lichfield, brings a host of UK music talent to the Midlands to help raise money for charity and over the last few years, has featured such artists as Lucy Spraggan & JAWS.

This year’s headline act for the Saturday are known by most for their chart topping single ‘Bom Bom,’ which sold over 100,000 copies in its first week of release. The trio’s unique mix of Balkan music and electronic dance has been heavily supported by BBC Radio One and helped the group achieve worldwide fame.

Headlining the event on the Sunday is fast rising rockers EofE. The group enjoyed a sensational 2014 touring with the likes of The Vamps and McBusted. And although they may have only formed a year and a half ago, the group has already enjoyed a top 10 single in the UK rock charts, with debut single ‘Lust’ peaking at number eight.

The two-day event, which combines a main stage and an acoustic stage, will be opened by ex-Britain’s Got Talent finalist Rose O’ Sullivan who went from a job in a supermarket to superstardom after appearing in the popular ITV show in 2013.  Also completing the two-day line up is such local acts as Dead Sea Skulls, The Assist, I, The Lion, the Bad Flowers, and more.

Now in its third year, Lichfield Rocks is fast becoming a spectacle in the Midland’s music calendar, and aims to raise money for good local causes. Last year’s Lichfield Rocks event raised over £2,000 for Armed Forces Charity the Mercian Regiment Benevolent Fund. This year, funds from the event will go towards The Olive Circle Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation set up to help local individuals in need of help and support.

And the individual to benefit from funds raised over the two days is local resident Jack Oldacres, who was born with Netherton’s syndrome; a rare congenital skin disease. A well-known local figure, Jack requires a specialised bathroom to accommodate his day-to-day condition. He’ll be present throughout the festival, which is shaping up to be a memorable event.

Mo Zaami, Manager of The Bowling Green Inn commented: “We are in our third year now and looking forward to our biggest festival to date. We are bringing a fun fair, stalls, games, raffles and so much more.  We are making this a family fun weekend with attractions and the best in local music. All funds raised on the day will go to young Jack Oldacres in the name of The Olive Circle Foundation, so it’s a great opportunity for local people to come and enjoy the best of the Midlands’ music scene, and support a worthwhile local cause too, all for just £4.”

Tickets for Lichfield Rocks are now available priced £4 fromwww.theticketsellers.co.uk. People are being advised to book in advance to avoid disappointment. Some tickets can be purchased on the day of the event for £5.
