Paraffin band members sat on and stood around a brown leather sofa

Paraffin are Tyler Adams and Tom Chapman on guitar, Jake Saunders on drums, Tim Beavis on bass, and frontman Billy Tee. Initially producing demoes in 2019, the band arrived on the scene in full following the lockdown with singles Mean and Call Me Over.

Deriving inspiration primarily from an eclectic mix of The 1975, Muse and Arctic Monkeys, the schizophrenic nature of the bands back catalogue can be observed in full in these opening singles, as they strike a balance between fuzzed out rock and riff fuelled pop. The band have to date achieved airplay from notable radio stations across the UK including BBC Introducing, as well as top level football clubs on match day including hometown Portsmouth FC.

Paraffin gigs are renowned for their rowdy atmosphere, and in many cases capacity has been raised due to fears of overcrowding. They have previously sold out headline shows at the likes of The Wedgwood Rooms in Portsmouth and The Joiners in Southampton, and the band have continued to expand their reach far and wide across the UK. Notable support slots have also come with The Luka State and King No-One.

With more releases, an ever expanding fanbase, and renewed vigour, 2023 looks to be the bands brightest year to date, and kicks off with new single White Light 12/05/23.

The latest single ‘White light‘ encapsulates the body and soul of the British indie scene. An age old story of a phone screen being more important than human interaction nowadays. Penned by Tyler Adams during his university days,

White Light explores lyrical themes of losing touch with the ones you love in the endless pool of self-gratification via social media. Billy Tee’s trademark delivery imposes a helplessness and urgency on the protagonist to look up from this virtual world, backed by the cacophony of sound of the band behind him.
