Godfather of Grime,Wiley, to play at House of Van London

House of Vans London is the physical manifestation of “Off The Wall”, the ethos at the heart of the Vans brand, centred around promoting creative expression via Vans’ brand pillars; action sports, art, music and street culture.

Already this year House of Vans London has played host to an array of exciting activations and events; from immersive art shows, workshops and cinema screenings to intimate live music sets and gigs. Not to mention a packed out weekend skate school and monthly skate and BMX events. Vans continues to honour it’s commitment to “Off The Wall” by playing host to a unique live show from the Godfather of Grime, supported by Ms Banks and D Double E.

Born in Bow, east London, in 1979, Wiley became involved in the Garage music scene of the 90s, where he would innovate some of the first ever grime beats, later releasing his debut album Treddin On Thin Ice in 2004. Wiley was a founder member of grime collectives Roll Deep and Boy Better Know, alongside Grime icons Skepta & JME. He has been recognised for his contribution to music with the MOBO Paving The Way award and NME’s Outstanding Contribution to Music. Furthermore he was recently awarded an MBE for his services to music in the Queen’s New Year Honours List. The highly anticipated Godfather II album is set to release later this month.

Warming up for Wiley will be 22-year-old, South Londoner and multi-award winning artist, Thyra Oji aka Ms Banks who stands for female empowerment and individuality, as well as East London Grime artist D Double E, who has been a major player in cultivating the UK grime scene, sitting in the top three selected mic controllers of all time among grime fans and his peers.

Based beneath Waterloo Station, House of Vans London is famed for its unique venue space and intimate gig atmosphere, making this a truly one-of-a kind experience with one of the world’s most influential Grime artists.
