Scotland’s newest festival, TRNSMT, today welcomes the Jack Rocks 7 to the line-up; a roster of seven bands handpicked by Jack Daniel’s to play the Jack Rocks Tent at each of the four major festivals the brand will be collaborating with this summer: TRNSMT, The Great Escape, Isle of Wight and Reading. In partnership with Britain’s biggest rock ‘n’ roll club night, This Feeling, the seven acts will tour the UK including a performance at the inaugural TRNSMT at Glasgow Green across 7th – 9th July 2017.
First up are ferocious Welsh three-piece Trampolene, who, fronted by Libertines’ tour poet, Jack Jones, can count Carl Barat, Ray Davies and Kaiser Chiefs’ Nick Hodgson as fans. They’re joined by explosive indie-rockers The Wholls, picked out by BBC R1 as the ‘Best of Reading 2016’, and come hot off the back of a European tour and recent signing to Sony Music GmbH. Meanwhile, Sheffield powerhouse band Bang Bang Romeo, bring huge female vocals, spiralling guitars and reverberating basslines, and Birmingham-based Broken Witt Rebels – compared to early Kings of Leon – bring their Nashville-inspired blues rock to the stage.
White Room, set to join Paul Weller on tour for the second time this April, join the collective next, as well as The Blinders, who have previously received exclusive plays on both BBC R1 and 6Music for their singles, one of which was produced by Gavin Monaghan (of Editors fame). Completing the seven will be psychedelic folk-rock band The Sundowners, label mates with The Coral, who are set to release their second LP in May, produced by James Skelly.
Having hosted stages at various festivals, and supported live music at independent venues across the UK on a weekly basis, this summer’s events see the Jack Rocks programme continue to shine a light on the headliners of tomorrow. Since 2014, Jack Rocks has championed independently spirited acts and has been part of the journey for some of today’s hottest talents. From the album-chart-topping Blossoms and Mercury-nominated Slaves, to the wonderfully shambolic Cabbage, currently tearing around the country inviting “hero worship and parental disapproval” (The Guardian) in equal measure, the initiative looks to provide a platform for upcoming artists.
The Jacks Rocks 7 will be introduced at a London showcase on 18th April at the newly refurbished Sebright Arms.
