TRNSMT 2020

After three incredible years in Glasgow Green, TRNSMT stands tall as one of the UK’s biggest and best festivals – pulling together worldwide superstars and the most exciting artists in the UK for an unforgettable weekend in Glasgow Green with the greatest crowd on the planet.

Joining a star-studded roll call of famous performances over the years, 2020 promises to be packed with undeniable festival moments – with homegrown favourites and blistering breakthrough names alike making their mark on Glasgow Green as Lewis Capaldi, Courteeners and Liam Gallagher bring top-drawer headline performances to the heart of the city.

With a Grammy nomination, sold out shows across the world, a number one single on both sides of the Atlantic and a record-breaking debut album, one of the most talked about artists in the world right now, the one and only Scottish Beyonce Lewis Capaldi, will headline the Sunday night of TRNSMT. The biggest-selling British artist of 2019, Lewis’ rise has been unprecedented – ‘Someone You Loved’, ‘Hold Me While You Wait’, ‘Bruises’ and massive new single ‘Before You Go’ have become arena-filling anthems and soundtracked the past 12 months. Beginning his TRNSMT journey on the King Tut’s Stage Powered by Utilita Energy in 2017, he opened the Main Stage in 2018 before 2019’s now-legendary, Chewbacca-masked special guest slot. It’s fitting that Lewis Capaldi’s first Major UK Festival headline show will come at TRNSMT 2020, for a special Sunday night that celebrates one of Scotland’s finest home-grown music exports.

Preparing to headline TRNSMT 2020Lewis Capaldi said:
“Yaaaaaas! I’ve been lucky enough to play TRNSMT every year since it’s inception and to be a headliner is absolutely wild. Things are about to get chubby and sexy, fast. See you up the road next year! X”

British music icon, Liam Gallagher, has a career spanning over three decades and is one of the defining figures in modern pop-culture. His swaggering moves and unmistakable voice has soundtracked generation after generation – from his era-defining time as the frontman of Oasis to his arena-filled solo return, there’s nothing that can stop Liam Gallagher from leading the charge. Making his return to TRNSMT, expect to hear classics, new and old, delivered in a fashion that only Liam can bring to the table in the heart of Glasgow Green. Why Him? Why Not! It’s Liam Gallagher headlining Saturday night at TRNSMT 2020.

Looking ahead to TRNSMT 2020Liam Gallagher said:
“I love Scotland and It’s an honour to be going back to headline TRNSMT Festival.
P.s. Have I told you lately that I Love You?”

Starting the weekend with a huge headline slot on the Friday night at TRNSMT is Manchester’s own Courteeners. A true underground sensation that has forced its way into the mainstream with swinging indie hooks and singalong sermons, their unstoppable catalogue of hits are primed to go down a storm when they take to the TRNSMT stage. Becoming one of the biggest bands in the country through word of mouth, devotion and albums full of stark observations on modern life, Courteeners stand apart from the rest. Whether it’s ‘Not Nineteen Forever’, ‘Lose Control’, ‘Are You In Love With A Notion?’, ‘What Took You So Long?’, ‘Take Over The World’ or countless more, there’s no band more ready for a major festival headline set than Courteeners. With new album ‘More. Again. Forever’ signalling their next shimmering chapter, Liam Fray & Co will have the Glasgow Green crowd jumping for a landmark moment at TRNSMT 2020

Courteeners frontman Liam Fray said:
“Scotland took us straight to their hearts, right from the very start. Starting with playing the ABC with The Coral back in 2007, we’ve always had an amazing connection with the people of Scotland. Feels like a 2nd home. To headline TRNSMT is a serious honour and we’ll be bringing a serious party. What a line-up”

One of the most exciting bands in the UK right now, Foals are primed to bring the heat to Saturday night at TRNSMT, with a sizzling and punchy set that is bound to stand as a true highlight of the weekend. Following the double release of ‘Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost Part 1’ and ‘Part 2’, Foals are established as modern trailblazers – with frontman Yannis Philippakis ready to lead the Oxford quartet into an almighty frenzy next July. Joining Courteeners on Friday night is another of Manchester’s greatest musical icons, the incomparable Ian Brown making his TRNSMT debut. One of the most recognisable and influential figures in British music over the past 30 years, the famed former Stone Roses frontman released his seventh solo studio album, the acclaimed ‘Ripples’ this year. With solo hits like ‘My Star’, ‘Dolphins Were Monkeys’, ‘F.E.A.R.’ and ‘First World Problems’, Ian has always been rapturously received in Scotland. Glasgow can expect an incredible set from this true original.

Adopted as one of Glasgow’s own, platinum-selling Snow Patrol are set for an emotional return to the city at TRNSMT 2020 – after being forced into pulling out of 2019’s festival. Back and ready to bring their unstoppable array of hands-in-the-air hits to the festival on Sunday night, their position as one of the UK’s most beloved bands is destined to be confirmed as Gary Lightbody leads the Green in communal singalongs like never before. Get ready for pop hits galore, when Rita Ora makes her TRNSMT debut in 2020. Recognised as one of the most successful pop names of the past decade, the likes of ‘Anywhere’, ‘I Will Never Let You Down’ and ‘Your Song’ are sure to light up Glasgow Green for a spectacle that needs to be seen to be believed. After a storming 2019, Sam Fender looks destined for an unmissable TRNSMT moment when he takes to the stage on Friday, with his critically acclaimed debut album ‘Hypersonic Missiles’ standing not only as one of the year’s best but also as one of the biggest, landing him a Number 1 album on his first attempt. Winning the BRITs Critics Choice award, touring the globe and with huge shows on the horizon, expect Sam Fender to lead Glasgow Green through a blistering ride when he returns in 2020.

Speaking about TRNSMT 2020, Rita Ora said:
“Scotland! Delighted to return to Glasgow for my first appearance at TRNSMT, with an amazing lineup on the Sunday! Looking forward to seeing you all, it’s going to be a big one”

Meanwhile, one of the decade’s biggest breakthrough acts, Blossoms, will embrace the next chapter in their journey to world domination as they take to the Main Stage on an already standout Friday at TRNSMT 2020. Hits from their first two albums like ‘Charlemagne’, ‘Getaway’, ‘Honey Sweet’ and ‘There’s A Reason Why (I Never Returned Your Calls)’ have made them firm favourites of Glasgow audiences and seen them climb festival bills across the world. The Stockport heroes show no let-up in their hit-making abilities, with ‘Your Girlfriend’ and ‘The Keeper,’ from third album ‘Foolish Loving Spaces’ (poised for release in January), already dominating the airwaves. Blossoms will be a huge draw for the TRNSMT crowd next July. A band who know a thing or two about how to kick-apart a festival stage, local titans Twin Atlantic are on course to bring their biggest show to date to TRNSMT, following the release of their upcoming new album ‘POWER’ which is due for release at the start of 2020. Expect more of the heavy hooks and punchy heights that have taken the trio around the globe, back in GLA for a ripping homecoming that’ll set the marker for everyone else stepping up at TRNSMT 2020.

Speaking about their hometown return, Twin Atlantic frontman Sam McTrusty said:
“It’s going to be wild. We feel so energised with new music we made in a studio that overlooks Glasgow Green. There is no closer venue to our studio! It’s an added special sauce that is going to make this a day to remember for us. Ross and I walked past the production entrance in 2018 on our way to work on our new album ‘POWER’ when Queen were soundchecking and felt so inspired to the point that the energy of playing to a massive crowd outdoors in the city we belong to is literally interwoven with the music. Here we fucking go.”

Taking TRNSMT to ‘Somewhere Only We Know’, pop-rock spinners Keane are ready to take fans on a trip down memory lane at Glasgow Green this summer. With a peerless batch of festival-made hits at their disposal (from ‘Everybody’s Changing’ to ‘Is It Any Wonder?’ to name but a few), Keane are destined for one of the most joyous sets of the weekend under Glasgow skies. Hailing from New Moston in North Manchester, 19 year-old MC Aitch is undoubtedly one of the biggest success stories of the year. Aitch has made a solid mark on the scene nationally, currently featuring on four songs in the UK Official Chart. With his talents recognised across the board and support from the likes of Stormzy, Ed Sheeran and more, Aitch has set the pace and placed himself at the forefront of a new wave of energy on the Manchester music scene. Giving Glasgow a ‘Taste’ of what promises to be a huge 2020, Aitch will no doubt make TRNSMT ‘Shake’ with an unforgettable set next July with a performance that TRNSMT festival-goers will be talking about for years to come. The Mercury Prize-nominated Little Simz will follow up a remarkable 2019 with a sure-to-be-incredible set at TRNSMT 2020, with tracks from recent album ‘Grey Area’ shining a light on one of the most important voices in British music.

Speaking about TRNSMT 2020Festival Director Geoff Ellis said: “The response that we’ve had to TRNSMT since we launched in 2017 is amazing to see. The fact that it has become such a pillar of the UK festival scene every year is testament to the incredible music fans that we have here in this country. We’re delighted that TRNSMT 2020 will host the major UK festival headline debuts from global superstar Lewis Capaldi and indie favourites Courteeners, plus the return of the legend that is Mr. Liam Gallagher. With a varied line up and many more acts to be announced in the new year, plus several fun activations as always, along with a wide range of drinks and scrumptious artisan food to suit all tastes, we can’t wait to welcome 50,000 music fans per day to the heart of this cultural capital that is Glasgow.

Revealing only a selection of names set for TRNSMT 2020, with more to be revealed across the Main, King Tut’s Stage Powered by Utilita Energy and Queen Tut’s stage – it’s another blockbuster weekend in the UK festival summer that’ll have thousands flocking to Glasgow Green this July.

Home to the greatest crowd on the planet, TRNSMT welcomes 150,000 fans to Glasgow Green across one incredible weekend – as a pinnacle of the summer festival season and a defining headline moment for some of the biggest artists in the world. Previous years have seen the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Radiohead, The Killers, Stormzy, Queen & Adam Lambert and George Ezra serve up mammoth moments, with TRNSMT 2020 destined to add more unforgettable memories in front of an adoring Glasgow crowd.
