Los Angeles based four piece The Shelters today unveil debut single ‘Gold’ – a sun-drenched hit of psychedelic tinged garage rock and roll. Listen below
Co-produced by the legendary Tom Petty, the band’s shimmering soundscapes gradually seep into the listener’s’ consciousness. Filtered with guitars, eerie synths, mellotron strings and a shifty percussion that effortlessly melds classic The Byrds harmonies with MGMTs contagious psychedelic melodies.
The Shelters conjure a sound that is dotted with some notable avant-rock icons (The Velvet Underground) whilst weaving together a thrillingly contemporary forward looking sound. Formed in 2015 The Shelters had only just banded together when Petty heard them and instantly recognised their raw potential. He gave the Shelters the keys to his home studio, allowing them the space and time to form their own identity in the process.
Currently cementing themselves amongst the latest wave of ones-to-watch in the US, The Shelters are in the middle of a frenetic 2017 touring schedule, with support slots confirmed in the US with Royal Blood and in Europe with The Lumineers. The band today announce a UK headline tour with a show at London’s Borderline on July 5th and they will be a fixture on the festival circuit throughout the summer including Lollapalooza, Bottle Rock, British Summertime Hyde Park, Spain’s Azkena festival and performing ahead of Kaiser Chiefs at Goldcoast Oceanfest.
The Shelters are Chase Simpson (vocals/guitar), Josh Jove (vocals/guitar), Sebastian Harris (drums) and Jacob Pillot (bass).
