About: The Mocking Jays are a four-piece Nottingham band, with an average age of 19. Don’t let this fool you as to their ability though. The band thrives on the being the underdog, utterly enjoying every new challenge that comes their way.
Their unique sound, highly developed song writing and their electric live performances have been honed from two years of solid ground work. The Mocking Jays will often perform up to 8 times a week working ‘open mics’ in between venue sets and recording sessions. Their relentless work routine, solid performance and audience engagement has earned the band a reputation with played venues; all eagerly seek their return.
Venues Played: Nottingham’s Rescue Rooms, Bodega, The Maze, etc, London’s Camden Town NW1 venues including a ‘sell out’ headline gig at The Fiddler’s Elbow and regular spots at the legendary Troubadour Club. The Mocking Jays last Derby gig at The Venue was a 500 cap. ‘sell-out’ .
Festivals : ‘Airfield Anarchy’ Headlined The BBC Introducing Stage, ‘Thringstone’, ‘Heather’ and ‘Astonbury Festival’ in the East Midlands. The band are now hungry to perform on the bigger stages.
Radio: The Mocking Jays have performed live sessions for BBC Introducing, The Beat broadcast throughout the East Midlands. The video of this session attracted over 70,000 views in the first three weeks of going live.
Releases: In March 2015 The Mocking Jays released their debut Single entitled ‘Feels’, which is available on ITunes, Amazon etc. and as a streaming video on YouTube. The Feels EP is due to be released during October 2015.
