On 7 May SubSound returns to their new Kitchen Street home to smash it once again with KOAN Sound backed by Culprate. Expect tasty helpings of bass from dubstep to full on glitch hop from these inspirational innovators of sound!

Broadcast on several releases by Skrillex’s OWSLA imprint, alongside the UK’s Inspected Records, KOAN Sound’s output showcases the vast range of musical territories they inhabit. Be it the formative techy weight renovating established dance music structures on their first releases from hometown labels in Bristol, the mutated brutality of their mid-tempo constructions – or even the cinematic journeys through orchestral expanses, revealed on their 2013 Sanctuary EP. KOAN Sound distinguish themselves across genres with inspired creativity, meticulous production finesse, and emphatic mastership of groove. Their infamous funk-infused formulations (perhaps most prevalent on their Funk Blaster EP) thrill audiences and DJs the world over, frequently synthesising live instrumentation: a residual quality of their earliest days as a live band, with their vital and emblematic production. These renowned characteristics have not only informed a number of acclaimed remix conquests for artists such as Ed Sheeran and Kasabian, but also serve to make us evermore mindful of this duo’s compelling evolution with their NEW album due to drop very soon!
Having established many releases on numerous record labels, the time has come for Culprate! The 5 Star EP via Inspected Records marks a new era for Culprate. Aptly named, the EP is massively anticipated and has already gained the support from the likes of KOAN Sound, Gemini & Skrillex. It’s fair to say that Culprate is a household name in the underground world of dubstep. However, he is far from content, admitting recently he would love to take his production to the next level. With influences ranging from Squarepusher to Amon Tobin, only Culprate could tell you what sort of production the future holds. But from what’s been heard already, it’s sure to be incredible..!
Plus there’s Subsound resident and local hero DJ Rasp. Hailing from the Northwest of England, DJ Rasp has become one of Europe’s premier and most respected hip-hop DJ’s, and a true “champion” turntablist! Also on resident duty is rising star James Sims and Subsound founder himself Dj NorX.
With a HUGE genre crossing line up expect this to be a another epic night of raveology from team SubSound that is taking the Liverpool clubbing scene by storm…..be part of it!
