The dual female-fronted band, Shakedown Stockholm, discovered by ‘BBC Introducing’ and hotly-tipped for a very big future, will play the main stage by the Town Hall on Saturday 5 September.
Over the last two years their anthemic indie rock sounds have brought them a growing fanbase as they play festivals and venues across the UK, with music that is equally nostalgic as it is refreshing. Last year on the BT City Square Stage at the Etihad Stadium they were introduced by former Smith’s guitarist and self-confessed Shakedown Stockholm fan, Johnny Marr. Another fan of the band is ‘The Enemy’ frontman Tom Clarke.
Described as ‘Fleetwood Mac with bigger, beautiful rockin 21st century balls’ their music will appeal to fans of Oasis, The Smiths, Kings of Leon and Joy Division.
Shakedown Stockholm will be performing in Rochdale fresh from recording a new EP, launched next month at the o2 Academy in Liverpool, follow up to ‘Viva’ released in 2012.
Councillor Janet Emsley Cabinet Member for Culture, Health and Wellbeing at Rochdale Borough Council said:
“Shakedown Stockholm join an already fantastic line up. Rochdale Feel Good Festival has introduced us to some real rising stars over the years. The event brings music and food lovers of all ages together in a family friendly atmosphere and it’s a fabulous event for the borough.”
Shakedown Stockholm will be joined by previously announced bands The South, Toploader, singer/songwriter Kirsty Almeida, ska stars The Uplifters plus more still to be confirmed.
Rochdale Feel Good Festival returns on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 September, for another showcase of entertainment, food and culture. There will be live music across indoor venues, the main stage sponsored by The Flying Horse Hotel, and a second outdoor stage. Celebrity chefs including Rachel Khoo, Kevin Woodford, Aazam Ahmad and Andrew Nutter will host live cooking demonstrations throughout the festival, which will also include the popular food market.
The summer festival is funded by Rochdale Borough Council together with sponsorship from local businesses including The Flying Horse Hotel, Rochdale Football Club, o2 Rochdale, Link4Life and The Royal Toby.
