Nick Mulvey releases ‘Brother To You’, the third track to be taken from his upcoming album ‘New Mythology’ set for release on 10th June by Fiction Records. The single arrives with a stunning live performance video, filmed and produced by La Blogotheque, that perfectly showcases Mulvey’s unique, hypnotic guitar playing and the innate musicality which earned him a Mercury prize nomination for his debut album. In line with the release, Mulvey announces his first live shows since before the pandemic, playing Glasgow, Manchester and finishing up at London’s KOKO on the same day he releases the highly anticipated new album. He will also return to play Glastonbury Festival on 24th June. ‘Brother To You’ provides another tantalising glimpse at ‘A New Mythology’ and as with the rest of the album, was recorded in Paris with renowned producer Renaud Letang (Manu Chao, Feist, Connan Mockasin). Lyrically the track is about “setting the record straight” as Mulvey explains “It’s about atonement and apology and writing it has been relief for me. From these personal origins it’s been cool to see how much people resonate with the song. It seems like most people have someone in their past who they would like to say this kind of message to.” To arrive at ‘New Mythology’, Nick Mulvey has come a long way – both musically and philosophically. A musician, composer and producer, Nick has has amassed a staggering 587 million streams globally, an equivalent of half a million albums sold A founding member of the award-winning British collective Portico Quartet, he left in 2011 to concentrate on his own material. Once solo, he released the Mercury Prize nominated debut album First Mind in 2014, and 2017’s celebrated Wake Up Now. |
