A year on since dropping out of school to pursue a career in music, Callum Rafferty – just 17 years old – is set to release his debut EP “Almost Summer”. It is undoubtedly Callum’s best work to date and with it’s catchy melodies and summery lyrics, this EP definitely one to watch out for this summer. BBC Introducing have already shown a great amount of interest in “Young Love” (the second track on the EP) and has described it as “Callum’s best song he’s done yet”. During a session live on air for BBC Radio Kent, Callum announced that his EP “Almost Summer” is set for digital and physical release on July 31.
2014 was a paramount year for Callum and after bunking off school to go on a UK tour opening up for Emma Stevens, Callum was able put on his first ever headline show at The Garage in Islington, which gave him an insight of what is to come.
In the midst of playing a packed out headline show at The Barfly this April, Callum had already started to record the EP in Brighton, co-producing it with Eds John who has worked with the likes of McBusted, The Vamps and Lana Del Ray.
The ‘Almost Summer EP’ consists of 4 upbeat, catchy guitar-driven songs with an indie/pop vibe containing strong lyrics, which take you back to your younger days and remind you of typical things teenagers get up to, whether it be going out in the town or ‘young love’. His lyric writing ability is well beyond his years and it is clearly proved in this EP, which is out July 31st accompanied by an EP Release Show at Barfly Camden on July 30th.
