Dutch born DJ Martin Garrix, the electronic prodigy, has gained such a strong following in such a short space of time it is no wonder the youngster has been snapped up by Ushuaia to headline eight weeks at the Playa D’en Bossa super club.
At a mere 19 years old, you would think a boy of this age would be feeling a bit daunted by the big stage at Ushuaia but after collaborating and rubbing shoulders with some of the biggest and best in the music business, with Usher and Tiesto there are no signs of any fear as he started his 2015 Multiply Ushuaia residency with a veritable bang.
Following on from Oliver Heldens, Chocolate Puma, Justin Mylo, Lucas & Steve who all played before him and as the sun went down, the already phenomenal set list erupted in an explosion of lights, lazers and smoke on stage.
A jam-packed house enthralled with the artists leading up to the very young and extremely talented Garrix couldn’t be in a better atmosphere.
Palm trees and pool juxtaposed against the shifting light of dusk, the transitioning lights of Ushuaia, purples, reds through to orange and beyond bringing the awesome tunes and fun mixes together.
Martin hitting us with tune after tune, flirting with us, his Macarena on the decks, the whole crowd laughing along, you would be fooled into thinking this was someone who had already had a headline residency for many years not just his first ever with Ushuaia.
One thing is sure. He’s won us over. We are his. And its going to be a great residency for Martin, Ushuaia and most of all for everyone who attends this great night through to August.
