Tonight was the closing party of Ibiza Rocks and an eagerly anticipated event that didn’t let it’s patrons down. Fickle friends, indie pop band from Brighton, opened the event to an already large crowd. Singer Natassja Shiner engaging the audience throughout their set was dancing all over the stage and the band were clearly enjoying their time there. Finishing with their 2017 single “Glue”, everyone was singing and dancing along ready for the main event.
The Kooks took the stage to a packed out house and went straight into “Always Where I Need To Be”, an apt song title for everyone that loves this venue. Following on with “Eddie’s Gun” and “Sofa Song”, with an amazing guitar solo, people were really getting into the show. Heavy crowd participation for “Bad Habit” from the album “Listen” was followed on by “She Moves In Her Own Way” and although this was a slightly mellower version it didn’t stop everyone from singing and indeed moving in their own way.
Lead Singer, Luke Pritchard was well in his stride by now and frequently went down to parts of the front row to high five eager fans who couldn’t get enough of him. Another great guitar solo during “Sway” proving these guys know how to play led into “Be Who You Are”, a new song from their 2017 album Best of….So Far. Firm favourite Ooh La was rapturously received and even we couldn’t help joining in as the atmosphere was fantastic. “Westside”, “Junk of The Heart” and “Around Town” kept the pace going as they led up to their final song of the night, “Naive”, which saw the crowd go into overdrive, not one person didn’t sing to this.
The Kooks came to put on a great show for the closing party and they definitely delivered. A very talented live act which was greatly received by everyone that attended.
