Newcomer Emmi writes big, alternative pop-songs with soul and has a voice to match. Citing influences ranging from Amy Winehouse, Alicia Keys to Kate Bush, her penchant for a big chorus, a thought provoking lyric and a catchy melody has not gone unnoticed by the music industry.
Whilst writing tunes for other artists worldwide in genres ranging from folk to rap and back again, Emmi has been collecting stories and songs for herself in secret over the years. “It started as a sort of personal catharsis. Then it was a burning have-to.” ‘My Kinda Swag’ marks her first introduction to the world as an artist in her own right.
Produced by US writer Jarrad Kritzstein (Travie McCoy, Zak Waters, Washington) ‘Swag’ features a melting pot of sultry RnB vibes, electronic elements and crunchy urban beats, which perfectly showcases Emmi’s spectacular and soaring vocal range.
Emmi says of the single “I often write songs for my thirteen year old self, songs I wished she had had to listen to back then. This is one of them. It says to her, ” OK Emmi, so you’re totally uncool and you’re still growing into your teeth, but you are also kind and truthful and you try to hold others up. And that’s what matters. To the people that matter. You got my kinda swag.”
