Breakout British band Catfish and the Bottlemen will kick off a headline tour June 9 at the Varsity Theater in Minneapolis. The run, which follows the band’s sold-out spring tour of the U.S., includes a show at New York City’s Webster Hall (June 16). See below for itinerary. Catfish and the Bottlemen will be traveling the globe this summer, performing at as many festivals as possible – including Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza in the States. International festival performances include Glastonbury, Ibiza Rocks, Splendour In The Grass, Fuji Rocks and Rock en Seine. The band recently played the Main Stage at Radio 1’s One Big Weekend in the U.K.
NME hailed Catfish and the Bottlemen as “the band of the summer” in this cover story. The New York Timespraised their “crisply told tales of romantic friction,” Rolling Stone named Catfish and the Bottlemen as an artist “You Need To Know” and USA Today profiled the band in an “On The Verge” piece.
Virgin Records – which is providing support to Catfish and the Bottlemen as part of the new agreement between the band’s label, Communion Records US, and Capitol Music Group – is taking the band’s new single,“Cocoon,” to radio. The track is from Catfish and the Bottlemen’s debut album, The Balcony, which wasproduced by Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Adele). The “Cocoon” video, which has more than two million views, can be seen HERE.
“I wrote it [“Cocoon”] in New York and it reminds me of feeling like the luckiest man in the world,” frontman Van McCann told Noisey. “A week before that, I didn’t have a job, I had no money to my name. And then we got signed and I was in New York writing songs.”
The Balcony, which is certified Gold in the U.K., charted in the Top 10 of Billboard’s Alternative Artists Albums chart after it was released in the U.S. in January 2015. Catfish and the Bottlemen made their network television debut on “Late Show with David Letterman,” performing “Kathleen,” the album’s first single. The video for “Hourglass,” another track from The Balcony, features Sir Ewan McGregor and can be seen BELOW
