Culminating two years of work, metalcore Midlanders AURORA will release their debut album, Faith/Breaker, showing everybody what a crossover band can really do.
Containing seven tracks, eight if you get your hands on the physical CD because there is a hidden bonus track, the debut album Faith/Breaker, out on October 23 via In At The Deep End Records, is not the usual child of the Birmingham-based band. Instead of licking metal with its sensual tongue, the boys, now fronted by Rhys Whitehouse, formally of WolveXhys, reach out and grab it by the throat, and choke the living day lights out of it. Faith/Breaker is a much darker sister for AURORA, but it is one that has been welcomed by the five-piece and by their growing nationwide fan base.
Bassist Josh Hammond said the band had been itching to get the album out on the airwaves and feels like the risk of swapping from a frontwoman to a frontman was the right choice for the Birmingham-based band.
He said: “Since swapping vocalists, it feels like new life has been breathed into us again, and we’re very excited about what the future holds.
“Faith/Breaker, the first release with Rhys, is heavier compared to our previous material, but we aimed to set the bar higher for ourselves and I think we achieved that.”
Tracklisting for Faith/Breaker is:
- Perseverance
- Faith/Breaker
- Scriptures
- Purgatory
- Cold Hearts
- RainDance
- The Obsessor
- Tennessee Whisky (BONUS TRACK)
‘RainDance’, the first single from the album, was released to much fanfare on June 4 as old fans rejoiced at the fight back AURORA had gone through after losing former vocalist Jess Calvesbert. The new sound the quintet brought also won them new fans as they took their new material on weekend tour with Martyr Defiled.
The second single set to be released from the album is title track ‘Faith/Breaker’. The video for ‘Faith/Breaker’ will be premiered on AltSounds on October 2 just before the band sit down with Kerrang’s Johnny Doom on Big Centre TV’s AMP’D to talk about the new release and give the world another chance to see the first video from the band with Rhys Whitehouse fronting AURORA.
Celebrating the release of the long-awaited first LP from AURORA, the band will be playing a hometown release show at Birmingham’s The Rainbow on November 14.
