Born from Liverpool house parties, Girl Group are the feminist five-piece draws constant inspiration from dancefloors, DJ collectives, and the spaces where marginalised communities gather and galvanise.
Girl Group – Katya, Maria, Thea, Mia and Lil – are not just a band who formed in Liverpool in 2024; they are five best friends pushing against the boy’s-club status quo, reimagining what a girl group can be in 2026 – and having fun while they do it. Born out of “spite” and a shared frustration at the music industry, they have created a space where “girl group” doesn’t mean something invented, branded, and distributed by men – but something woman-made, from writing and producing the records themselves, to performing and creative direction.
With influences ranging from Wolf Alice and Wet Leg, to Sabrina Carpenter and feminist literature and riot grrl bands, Girl Group are not performing a movement, but living it; building not only a fanbase, but an ecosystem of girlhood where joy, protest, community and pleasure can coexist.
Championed by fellow artists including SZA, CMAT, and Florence Pugh – and known for their DIY music videos made with all-female crews – Girl Group are carving out a space where feminism, friendship, and ferocious pop collide for fans who finally feel seen.
The Sunday Times Style described them as “recalling Wet Leg, Charli XCX’s Brat album and giving the same chaotic energy as Spice Girls’ Wannabe”
