The View will commemorate twenty years since the release of their breakthrough debut album with the confirmation of two special ‘Hats Off To The Buskers’ 20th anniversary shows. The band will play two nights at Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom on April 8th and 9th2027.

Let’s rewind to January 2007The View were emerging from Dundee as an unlikely hot tip, bringing a ragged energy, poet streetsmart lyricism and a flair for killer choruses that connected with fans of kindred spirits such as The Libertines and Arctic Monkeys – a mix that was only accentuated by their cheeky Scottish charm and love of hedonistic excess. Live shows were just as rambunctious, especially a chaotic, rammed set at the new band stage at T in the Park

They had already scored two Top 15 singles, ‘Wasted Little DJs’ and ‘Superstar Tradesman’, but suddenly they were everywhere. The irresistible ‘Same Jeans’ powered to #3 during a four-week Top 10 run on the Official Singles Chart, while their acclaimed ‘Hats Off To The Buskers’ went straight to #1 and was soon certified Platinum in recognition of more than 300,000 domestic sales. Their rise continued with another Top 40 single from the album in the shape of ‘The Don’, a Mercury nomination and a nomination for Best New Band at the NME Awards.

Now The View will revisit the rush of their early years with these anniversary shows. Led by founder members Kyle Falconer (vocals, guitar), Kieren Webster (bass, vocals) and Pete Reilly (lead guitars), these will be the first full gigs the band have played since December 2024. Expect all the hits and fan favourites, album cuts which have rarely been played before (‘Street Lights’‘Claudia’) as well as a selection of other fan favourites.

Kyle Falconer says, “I can’t believe it’s been 20 years, it actually feels like yesterday. I’m surprised we got this far and are still alive 🙂  I can’t wait to celebrate it all again with you, just like yesterday!”

Fans who sign up to Gigs In Scotland hereHERE will receive access to a presale which opens at 10am on WednesdayMay 6th. Remaining tickets will go on general sale from the same linkfrom 10am on Friday, May 8th.

‘Hats Off To The Buskers’ was just the start of The View’s story, as they returned to the Top 10 with ‘Which Bitch?’‘Cheeky For A Reason’ and their most recent album, 2023’s ‘Exorcism of Youth’. The latter resulted in their highest chart position in fourteen years, its commercial success matched by acclaim including from NME (“The album is hoofing modern indie rock conventions overboard by the barrel-load”), Clash (“A record that shows there is plenty of fire in their bellies”), Record Collector (“A harmony filled delight from start to finish”) and more.
