Reggae legends Inner Circle will close this year’s Africa Oyé festival in Liverpool as they celebrate their 50th anniversary.

The Jamaican quintet is one of the world’s most respected reggae units with a string of success stretching back to the mid-70′s. The iconic group known for such hits as “Bad Boys” and “Sweat (A La La La La Long)” will release a documentary, book and album titled “A Long Road to Success” to celebrate their milestone year and their signature style of pop-oriented Jamaican beats and energy will no doubt make their set in Sefton Park one to remember.

On 16th & 17th June 2018, Sefton Park will once again be taken over by the music and culture of Africa and the Caribbean for two free days of fantastic live music, DJs, dance, workshops, food stalls and a range of traders in the Oyé Village.

Inner Circle have transcended the traditional reggae niche over their storied career, creating a widespread crossover appeal, playing at many of the world’s largest festivals. In commemoration of their former lead singer, the venerable Jacob Miller, Inner Circle will celebrate his contribution to the band and the entire reggae scene during their set at Oyé.

Led by founding members, brothers Roger and Ian Lewis, Inner Circle has stood the test of time by continuing to innovate and connect with contemporary stars such as Pitbull, Chance The Rapper, Flo Rida, Rick Ross and DJ Khaled.

Africa Oyé’s Artistic Director, Paul Duhaney said, “A reggae headliner has become an Oyé tradition over the years and I’ve no doubt Inner Circle will follow in the tradition of the likes of Marcia Griffiths, Freddie McGregor, Frankie Paul and most recently Max Romeo in providing a closing set to remember – we can’t wait to bring them to Liverpool on such a special anniversary tour for them.”

The 2018 Africa Oyé festival will take place on 16th and 17th June, 2018 in Liverpool’s Sefton Park from 12:30pm til 9:30pm both days and entrance is FREE. For more information on the festival and other events held across the country by Africa Oyé please visit africaoye.com.
