Roskilde Announces Father John Misty, Bonobo, Tinashe, KiNK, Clams Casino & More

Father John Misty returns to Roskilde Festival to seduce the crowd on the festival’s biggest stage. He will be joined by Bonobo, Tinashe, Moon Duo, A Day to Remember, KiNK, Elza Soares and 17 more acts from all over the world.

Bearded bohemian Father John Misty’s rise to fame is a story of dedication and delivery: with wit and grit, he has penned songs that are powerful on record and even better live. He conquered Roskilde Festival in 2015 and returns as an even more accomplished songwriter with his new album ‘Pure Comedy’.

The flamboyant songwriter will take on the festival’s iconic Orange Stage for the first time, more politically charged than ever before.

Feminist rap and a 79-year-old samba queen Since 1971, Roskilde Festival has presented legends and pioneers in all genres. The Danish non-profit festival is equally known for its diverse profile, offering cutting-edge acts from all over the world. Elza Soares may not be a household name, but in her native Brazil she is known as the queen of avant-garde samba.

The 79-year-old has had a huge influence on Brazilian music, and through her art and fight against social injustice she is rightly viewed as an icon in South America. Her latest album, ‘A Mulher do Fim do Mundo’ (‘The Woman at the End of the World’), has been praised for its groundbreaking mix of traditional Brazilian styles and noise rock, showing that she is as courageous as ever before.

Madame Gandhi’s feminist electro-rap is an inspiring and fun lesson in self-respect and empowerment whereas fellow American Tinashe offers R’n’B with so much star quality that it takes imagination not to see her as a global superstar in the years to come.

Born in England and based in L.A., highly acclaimed producer Bonobo has good reason to call his new album ‘Migration’. His music is in itself like a journey wrapped in organic electronica.

The beat magician Clams Casino is one of the most sought-after producers of our time, having worked with artists such as The Weeknd, Blood Orange, FKA Twigs and A$AP Rocky. After garnering praise for his groundbreaking ‘Rainforest EP’ in 2011 and his subsequent ‘Instrumentals’ series, he finally released his debut album ’32 Levels’ in 2016 with guest appearances by some of his biggest fans, including Vince Staples, Lil B, Kelela and Future Islands frontman Samuel T. Herring. Roskilde Festival will be his first ever show in Scandinavia.

Bulgaria’s KiNK is known for his brilliant live shows, securing him a top spot on Resident Advisor’s 2016 list of best live acts. He is almost a one-man band and, with their words, “absurdly entertaining”. KiNK will bring along singer Rachel Row.

From Sahara to America, from metalcore to psych-rock, there’s plenty of guitars among the acts revealed today.

A Day to Remember are heroes in the metalcore scene and loved for their catchy choruses. They’ve already hit the top spot on Billboard’s rock chart and sold more than a million units. On an even heavier level, fellow Americans Full of Hell are doing what they can to live up to their name.

Moon Duo, equally, live up to their name: the duo seem to be living proof that there’s no limits to space rock and psych-rock. From the rocks of the moon to the sand of Sahara: Group Doueh from Mali is a family affair with Mr and Mrs Doueh and their sons on keyboard and drums. For their Roskilde Festival show they will be expanding their family to include the French psych-punk trio Cheveu. Get ready for a live mash-up of styles, structures and sounds.

Foo Fighters, The Weeknd, Arcade Fire, Solange, Lorde, Trentemøller, A Tribe Called Quest, G-Eazy, Moderat/Modeselektor (playing together for the first time ever), Blink-182 and Justice are among the acts already confirmed for Roskilde Festival 2017.

A total of 94 acts have now been announced. The full line-up will be revealed in April with 80 new acts.
