Grammy-award winning Tuareg group, Tinariwen will play Liverpool’s Invisible Wind Factory this March.
The Saharan Blues purveyors will perform music from their new album ‘Elwan’, which has already attracted 5-star reviews from The Independent and Record Collector, as well as songs from their impressive back catalogue stretching back over fifteen years.
Harvest Sun Promotions are pleased to have teamed up with Africa Oyé to bring the Malian group to one of Liverpool’s most exciting new venues and the show will form part of Oyé’s 25th Anniversary celebrations in 2017. Paul Duhaney, Artistic Director of Oyé, said:
“We were the first festival to bring Tinariwen to the UK way back in 2004 so we’re thrilled to be able to team up with Harvest Sun Promotions on this show and have it feature in our 25th Anniversary programme. The band deserve all the accolades they have received over the years and I can’t wait to hear songs from this record”
Elwan (The Elephants), is the band’s seventh album, recorded in the rocky desert near M’Hamid, a little town in southern Morocco, located in the Draa valley in the Zagora area. The area was chosen as their home town in northern Mali proved too unstable and dangerous due to renewed conflict. It is also a place of significant cultural importance to the Tuareg-Berber people, the location where all the caravans would stop before making the long journey to Timbuktu.
Tinariwen play Liverpool’s Invisible Wind Factory on Tuesday March 7th. Tickets are on sale now via SeeTickets.
