Sound Jar promotions presents a major coup in Liverpool, bringing the grandfathers of hip hop, Public Enemy, to O2 Academy Liverpool on Wednesday 2nd December 2015.
The multi-platinum, five times Grammy Award nominated artists have earned a reputation of inspiring the disgruntled masses for more than three decades. For many, the band’s message remains as relevant today as it ever was, with Chuck D’s socio-politically inspired lyrics providing an alternative view to the corridors of power today.
Professor Griff delivers the band’s militant tones, whilst hype man, Flavor Flav, brings his own unique humour to the show. Flavor Flav has enjoyed massive success in the United States as an actor, comedian and TV host.
In 2013 the band were finally inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in recognition of their pioneering art form and as role models to younger hip hop and rap performers. The influence has spread even further to artists as diverse as Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, Björk, Manic Street Preachers Prodigy and Tricky, all citing Public Enemy in their inspiration, with the band remaining ever significant with albums such as 2007’s ‘How you sell soul to a soulless people who sold their soul’.
New album, “Man Plans God Laughs” has been receiving much media acclaim since its release in July, adding to the band’s extensive back catalogue including their classic albums ‘It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back’ and 1990’s ‘Fear Of A Black Planet’.
Tickets are available now at www.ticketweb.co.uk or 0844 477 2000 or in person at the venue box office.
