The BRIT Awards 2016 with MasterCard today announces that 2016 BRIT Award winners will receive an exclusive trophy designed by innovative Scots-born fashion legend and musician Pam Hogg. Approaching the process as she would for one of her own acclaimed fashion collections, each 2016 trophy will be individually and uniquely designed by Pam, meaning each winner will receive a completely different trophy on the night assigned to that particular Award category. Pam’s work is synonymous with music and her clothes have been worn by artists across the world including Kylie Minogue, Debbie Harry, Siouxsie Sioux, Jessie J, Lady Gaga, Alison Mosshart, Roisin Murphy and Rihanna. In her career Pam has also fronted punk bands, which is entirely fitting for 2016 as punk celebrates its 40th anniversary.
Pam’s design follows in the tradition of the BRIT Awards working each year with a leading British creative individual to create a bespoke statue to reward the creative achievements of music artists over the last year.
Pam, who holds a Master’s Degree from the Royal College of Art in London, has worked on a variety of cutting edge projects in both film and music. Since launching her debut collection in 1981 she has won multiple awards for her work as well as continuing to push boundaries and remain as one of the most in demand names in her field.
2016 will mark the sixth year that the highly coveted BRITs trophy has received its own unique artistic makeover. Previous creative designers of the statue: Vivienne Westwood (2011), Sir Peter Blake (2012), Damien Hirst (2013), Philip Treacy (2014), Tracey Emin (2015).
Pam Hogg said: “An artist’s true reward is that her/his work resonates and connects. Given a chance, the unseen unheard and unsung may also one day touch and unlock a waiting heart.”
