After a year of momentous highs that has seen the pop icon return to the forefront of British consciousness (including a fourth No.1 album, ‘85% Proof’), British singer Will Young has announced the release of his final single from critically revered album ‘85% Proof’, a stunningly heartfelt rendition of the Burt Bacharach classic, What The World Needs Now Is Love’, impacting on Island Records this January 8th.
Will’s emotive, yet soulful take on the classic is a gorgeous, slickly-produced balled from the outspoken singer, and is being used to soundtrack the official WWF #WorldNeedsLove campaign to raise awareness for declining wildlife populations across the globe. Premiering during Alan Carr’s Chatty Man this evening (Nov. 20th), the single resonates with a hopeful, optimistic feeling that could only be captured by the socially aware singer.
Speaking about the song and his participation, Will says ““It’s shocking to think that in my lifetime global wildlife populations have declined by over 50% and our forests and oceans remain at risk. If we actually stop and think about that, it’s a real wake up call. Ultimately that’s what the world needs now – every single one of us to take action and protect our world for future generations.”
