The President Lincoln confirmed as support for The Posies

East London band The President Lincoln (www.thepresidentlincoln.com) are pleased — no, make that are absolutely beside themselves — to announce that they will support The Posies (www.theposies.net) when the Seattle power-pop legends play their only UK date on their forthcoming European tour.

Tickets are now on sale for the concert which will take place on 6 April at London’s 100 Club (www.songkick.com/concerts/25871669-posies-at-100-club). The Gig is promoted by DHP Family (www.dhpfamily.com).

The President Lincoln is a band named after a ship named after a politician. Their debut LP “The Sinking of The President Lincoln” was released on the Austin, TX indie label Nine Mile Records. AmericanaUK called it “inventive and brilliant” and Steve Lamacq likened them on BBC 6Music to a cross between Placebo and Americana.

In actual fact, The President Lincoln is a ragtag collection of middle-aged nerds. In their lives of quiet desperation, the prospect of opening for the band who recorded “Flavor of the Month”, one of the catchiest damn songs of all time, feels like winning X-Factor. Lead singer Alex Maws, who recalls first seeing The Posies on their 1993 Frosting on the Beater tour, reports that accidentally wet himself just a little bit when he was asked.
