The Jackobins have been on our radar for some time now and they have finally released their new single “Waiting on the Sun” and it was a very packed and hot Magnet that greeted the announcement and the boys last night. With wonderful support from CalRuddy Music, The Haze and The Sky, The Jackobins took to the stage to complete the night and highlight the fact that they are one of the most exciting bands on the Liverpool music scene at the moment.
Lead singer, Dominic Bassnett, was on fine form. Whipping the crowd into a frenzy and encouraging crowd participation from the onset. Running through the tracks Ghosts, The otherside alongside many more, the band seemed relaxed and thoroughly enjoying the night.
The smiles and energy throughout the set from guitarist, Veso Mihaylov, said it all. They love to perform and they love to perform to a great crowd.
Waiting on the sun obviously has had a resonance with the audience and it already seems like an anthem for the summer with the crowd singing and punching the air in glorious glee throughout the song.
During the encore for the band singer Cal Ruddy joined them to sing along with Prussia. Acting like some kind of Bez maniac Ruddy managed to cause an organised chaos on stage, dancing and singing along with the band whilst simultaneously trying to wrestle to the ground. Brilliant stuff!!
All in all this has to be the most entertaining and fun-filled single launch I have had the pleasure of attending and I look forward to many more from The Jackobin boys.
