Rochdale Feel Good Festival 2015 -Local acts will bring the feel good factor

Rochdale Feel Good Festival

More than 20 local acts have been lined-up to play Rochdale Feel Good Festival’s Stage 2.

The second outdoor music stage at the festival will feature local singers, dancers, bands and poets during the two-day festival.

Stage 2, situated alongside the festival food market and Celebrity Kitchen stage on Milton Street West Car Park in Rochdale town centre, will be hosted by community radio station Roch Valley Radio.

Councillor Janet Emsley, Cabinet Member for Culture, Health and Wellbeing at Rochdale Borough Council said:

Local acts on our community stage have gone down really well over the last couple of years, so this year we have a bigger stage and more local acts than ever. We will be putting on a programme that celebrates the wealth of talent we have in the borough and Stage 2 will provide a distinct and vibrant alternative to the main stage.”

The programme kicks off on Friday morning at 11am. There’ll be a selection of dancers, singers, clog dancers and other community based groups with Roch Valley Radio presenters keeping the schedule flowing.  At 1.15pm look out for up and coming singer Gem O’Reilly – the former Cardinal Langley pupil has already had over 20,000 views on Youtube and her first EP ‘Teenager’ made the top 10 of the i-Tunes Country Music Chart.

On Saturday hot trio The Social Leftover, who won the public vote in last month’s Feel Good – Battle of the Bands competition will be performing alongside a choir, dancers, acoustic sets and some uplifting interactive Zumba. Milnrow band The Madding Crowd who have already been featured on BBC6 Music will also be playing.

Roch Valley Radio is available online at www.rochvalleyradio.org.uk They also broadcast to patients at Fairfield General Hospital 24 hours a day.  They will be recording the performances and will broadcast highlights on their online station after the festival.

David Murphy, Strategic Director of Roch Valley Radio said:

I’m very pleased that we are able to work with Rochdale Feel Good Festival. Our radio station and volunteers have done so much this year promoting and building our hospital and community radio enabling us to come this far so it will be an amazing opportunity and experience for everyone involved.  It’s a great opportunity to profile top local talent and really fits with the format of Roch Valley Radio as a community radio station.”

Rochdale Feel Good Festival is on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 September promising another showcase of entertainment, food and culture. There will be live music across indoor venues, and main stage sponsored by The Flying Horse Hotel.

Music acts on the main stage line up include The South, Toploader, Kirsty Almeida, ska band The Uplifters, Shakedown Stockholm, The Renegade Girls, and Rochdale’s own alternative rock band The Hotspur Press. Chefs in the Celebrity Kitchen include Rachel Allen and Kevin Woodford.

The summer festival is funded by Rochdale Borough Council with sponsorship from local businesses including Hopwood Hall College, Key 103, The Flying Horse Hotel, Rochdale Football Club, O2 Rochdale, Balfour Beatty Living, Link4Life and The Royal Toby.
