Raised in a small village in rural Sweden on a diet of Bob Dylan, Crosby, Stills and Nash and (of course) ABBA, the daughter of a teacher and the minister from the local chapel, MY Helmner confesses to a fairytale childhood growing up in the forest surrounded by mountains, rivers and wild animals. Fast forward to 2016, and MY continues to draw on those mystical, bucolic roots in her music, mixing the indelible impression left by her idyllic early years with the harder urban sounds she discovered when she moved to the city and immersed herself in her first ever musical loves – rock and pop.
