Macmillan Fest 2016

This year will see the 7 th Macmillan Fest and it will be playing host to over 65 bands showcasing some of the best national talent along with providing support to local artists whilst raising money and awareness for Macmillan Cancer Support, it’s a great place to have fun and raise money!

This years’ event will take place in various venues across Nottingham City and will play host to bands such as Sikth, Inme, Area 11, Black Peaks, The Qemists, Seafret, Eyre Llew, Suspect Alibi, Stop Stop, Continents, Three Girl Rhumba, Tigress plus many more!

Kris Davis of IKE Productions has organised this event for the past 6 years, raising over £20,000 so far for Macmillan Cancer Support. “I started raising money for Macmillan when I was 16, my form tutor at the Gedling School had been diagnosed with a brain tumour and broke down in class. I found out that Macmillan was supporting him and I wanted to raise some money to help continue the work that they do. Since then I have met thousands of people who come to our event to show their support for the charity all with their own personal experiences. Its people coming together that makes you realise how we are all affected and that nobody should face cancer alone”. Kris Davis, Director of IKE Productions.

Every day 17 people in county hear the devastating news they have cancer, and eight people die from the illness. This will see Nottinghamshire’s population of people living with cancer nearly double between 2010 and 2030.

Stacey Smalley, Fundraising Manager says; “Macmillan’s ambition is to reach and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer. By 2030, the number of people living with the disease will have doubled, so it’s a huge task to support each and every one of those in some way.

“With the support of local fundraisers and volunteers, we can continue to fund vital cancer services like those within the Macmillan Cancer Partnership in Nottinghamshire. We’ve already invested more than £3.5 million in 21 projects and pilots across Nottinghamshire, from services for teenagers and young adults, to befriending schemes and help for those suffering with the late effects of radiotherapy. We want to make sure these services continue so we can provide the best cancer care possible here in your community. With the help of people like Kris, we can make sure no one in Nottinghamshire has to face cancer alone.’

“Macmillan Fest is a fantastic event for people to enjoy national and local bands and help raise money to make a difference to the lives of people affected by cancer in Nottinghamshire.”
