ELEVANT MUSIC LTD

Liverpool Musician & Label

The musician and founder at the heart of Liverpool-based record label ELEVANT MUSIC LTD (EML) is preparing to head out a tour like no other.

In a scheme co-ordinated by major businesses either side of the Atlantic, Elevant front man Michael Edward has been selected for a trade mission that could well prove to be the opportunity of a lifetime.

Founding the label as an intuitive means of releasing his own records, the energetic front man and guitarist of the experimental rock trio has been steadily putting out new releases by his band since 2014. However, in a move that could witness an unprecedented broadening of horizons for the label, Edward will travel across the world to meet fellow company executives in the United States.

In a joint venture between city centre regeneration company Liverpool Vision and The Chamber of Commerce, the pair are uniting to invest in budding entrepreneurs and rising businesses both sides of the Atlantic. With the ultimate aim of promoting trade between representative creative industry companies in Liverpool and the USA,  the partnership sees the two bodies looking to independent businesses such as Elevant Music Ltd to lead the way.

A meeting was arranged by Elevant’s National PR guru Matt Parsons of Ditto PR and Michael Edward was able to pitch his case to the Head of Creative & Digital of Liverpool Vision, Kevin McManus. Convinced that EML was a company fulfilling all the business criteria they had been searching for, McManus soon set the wheels in motion for Edward to act as trades representative for this unique opportunity.

The short jaunt will see Edward take in three cities in total on a whistle-stop tour of the East Coast. Opening with talks at Atlanta (Georgia) on the 18th October, further discussions will take place at Birmingham (Alabama) the following day before heading to New Orleans (Louisiana) on the 21st.

Whilst on the trip Edward has meetings arranged with dignitaries such as an encounter with former Warner Bros. consultant Dave Dannheiser and creative collectives such as the Innovation Depot in Birmingham AL, a company similar to Liverpool’s own Baltic Collective.

Speaking about how he believes the mission will benefit him, Michael Edward said:

My aims for the trip are firstly to meet and form working relationships with US labels, with a view to organising licensing deals for US release of my label’s material, publishers working in the US market primarily to place music in films/tv/adverts, and festival/tour/gig promoters to create inroads to the American live scene for the label’s artists.

Elevant Music LTD. is a record label based in Liverpool, England. Originally set up by Michael Edward of the band Elevant to release their material including their s/t debut and sophomore effort ‘Dreamface’ and their other associated side projects. The company has since grown to sign new talent in Too Many Poets and Duke Mercury.
