Liverpool Loves Festival Is Back And Moves To The City Centre

Orb CIC are delighted to announce that the award-winning festival Liverpool Loves will return to the city this Summer!

Liverpool’s best loved, feel-good festival will take place on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th August – with the main stage zone being held in Derby Square at the heart of the Commercial District, under the gaze of the Queen Victoria monument.

Festival director, Josh Boyd said: After the continued success of last year’s event – and picking up a nomination for Best Small Tourism Event once again – we’re excited to be bringing this much-loved celebration back for the third time in 2017.

“The event has had a huge level of support in its first two editions and attracted over 67,000 people down to Pier Head – so this year we’re taking steps to develop the offer and take it up a notch by going on-tour into the City-Centre, with our eyes set firmly on 2018’s ten-year anniversary of Liverpool’s Capital of Culture award. Visitors can expect to see all their favourite parts of previous years once again – we don’t want to change too many of the things that have made this event so unique and well-loved by visitors. This is just the first part of the event site that we’re announcing, so keep an eye out for more exciting details to come shortly.”

Orb CIC has a strong, proven track record in staging major city events and festivals – and they’re pulling out all the stops to ensure that this year’s event stands up to their strong reputation.

Indeed, Liverpool Loves festival has gone from strength to strength since its inaugural year in 2015. The first ever edition was a resounding success, hailed one of the stand-out moments of 2015 with over 27,000 people in attendance across three days of events.

An estimated audience of around 40,000 attended the second event last year and Orb CIC are now on a mission to look towards the future of what this project can do for the city.

Celebrating and showcasing all the fantastic things that Liverpool has to offer, Liverpool Loves will undoubtedly be a highlight of the Summer calendar – providing a wide array of live entertainment, amazing food and drink; as well as activities and attractions for the whole family to enjoy in the sun.

Once again, this year’s celebration will focus on the festival’s fab four core themes: business, culture, food and wellbeing.

Josh explained:Dubbed, ‘The People’s Festival’ – Liverpool Loves has really lived up to that title. We’ve not only put on a boss day out for the city; but the project has invested almost £150,000 in contracts with local businesses, showcased over 100 artists and 250 local businesses – and lots more outcomes for the health and wealth of our economy and communities.”

“We’ve got some big ideas and want to see Liverpool Loves become the go-to, 100% scouse, Summer celebration for local people, day-trippers and tourists alike!”, he added.

During the festival, the city centre will come alive with the sounds of some of the best buzz-bands and rising local artists on the Main Stage in Derby Square, surrounded by a vibrant offering of street food and bars with an atmosphere reminiscent of an open-air European piazza.

Meanwhile, there will be a varied line-up of have-a-go sessions as part of the Liverpool Loves Wellbeing programme, which is back in force with lots of free activities and performances for all the family.

Plus, there will be a programme of free entertainment from local and international community arts organisations on the Culturebox stage – promising a showcase of the breadth of our cultural connections in the region.

Finally, Liverpool Loves Business – which is Liverpool’s largest independent SME conference – will return to Hilton Liverpool on Thursday 13th July. Promising a wide programme of seminars, keynote speeches and business advice and support; it’s a fantastic opportunity for budding entrepreneurs to come together a pick up some tips, tricks and connections.

Full event sites, partners and programmes to be announced in the coming weeks.
