Arkells Kick Off Frank Turner UK & EIRE Tour

Kicking off tonight, alt-rock touring troubadours ARKELLS, join Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls as lead support on their UK & EIRE tour.

The tour begins 13 April at Manchester Academy with stops in Dublin, Sheffield, Aberdeen, Newcastle, Liverpool, Bristol, Oxford, Norwich and beyond, before ARKELLS final support stop on the run at the Roundhouse in London on 11 May, as part of Frank Turner’s “Lost Evenings” run of sold-out shows.

ARKELLS close out their tour with a sold-out London victory lap headline date at Dingwalls on 12 May. See full dates and details below.

Having toured together previously to sold-out audiences in North America, ARKELLS are thrilled to join Frank Turner, one of their most vocal UK supporters, in his home market.

“ARKELLS have quickly become one of my all-time favourite bands, sharing the road with them over the last few years, and they’ve become a big influence on my own music, as well as good friends,” says Turner. “Predictably enough, their new song is an instant classic, pushing their sound forward and begging to be sung by a huge crowd.”

The struttingly upbeat, horn-infused, politically-charged anthem, “People’s Champ” is a tune written to the social climate and one that is sure to resonate with audiences both sides of the Atlantic.

Speaking about the track, frontman Max Kerman says:

“We’re all looking for leadership that is benevolent and generous, and truly has the will of the people in everything they do. We’re comforted every day by the people in our neighbourhood who go the extra mile for their community – especially when they don’t have to. We love that person. This song is about the opposite of that: it’s about the guy who acts like Robin Hood, but is the farthest thing from it. But that’s OK: look around and you’ll find people’s champs all around ya.”

People’s Champ” is the first single to be revealed from upcoming fifth studio album.

Written and recorded in Toronto, the track was produced by previous collaborator Eric Ratz (“Knocking at the Door” and “Leather Jacket”), and mixed by Mark Needham (The Killers, The 1975).

Already heroes in their homeland of Canada, ARKELLS are rapidly building a reputation as one of the most passionate, high-energy, live-rock authorities on the current live circuit. Following the release of their latest album, ‘Morning Report’, the four-time JUNO Award winning band have made their debut at some of the biggest festivals in the world, notably including the U.S’s Coachella, Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo. Their most recent hit single, “Knocking At The Door,” spent an unprecedented 14 weeks at #1 on the Canadian Alt/Rock charts, making it the most played alt/rock song of 2017, and ARKELS the most played band of the year. In summer 2018, the band will perform their biggest hometown headline show to-date at Hamilton’s football stadium, Tim Horton’s Field (with support from special guests Cold War Kids & Bishop Briggs).

Catch the band at these UK shows this Spring while you can:
