Having recently finished their sold out European and UK tour (including three shows at O2 Academy Brixton), The Maccabees head out for two warm up shows in Cardiff and Liverpool before their first ever festival headline slot at Latitude July 15th.

Headlining Latitude has capped a remarkable twelve months for The Maccabees, which has seen them score their first number one album with the acclaimed ‘Marks To Prove It’ last July, and crowned as Best British Band at last month’s NME Awards.

Sona Jobarteh is the first female Kora virtuoso to come from a West African Griot family. Breaking away from tradition, she is a modern day pioneer in an ancient, male-dominated hereditary tradition that has been exclusively handed down from father to son for the past seven centuries. She has modernised the presentation of Kora music bringing a rhythmic edge to her compositions that fits her remarkable voice.
