Following Monday’s news that The Coral are set to headline the festival on Sunday night, Sound City is proud to announce the first wave of 2016 artists including Circa Waves, Sleaford Mods, The Dandy Warhols, Young Fathers and Band of Skulls.

Joining Saturdays bill are Liverpool indie-rockers Circa Waves who actually formed after meeting at Sound City 2013.

Kieran Shudall lead singer with Circa Waves says: Sound City is such an iconic festival and its an honour to be returning as a band and playing to a home crowd right on the Banks of the Mersey. Its going to be a massive show!”

Mmoths Announce debut album, ‘Luneworks’

11th March 2016 marks the release of Luneworks, the much anticipated debut album by 22-year old Dublin-based musician and producer, Jack Colleran, A.K.A MMOTHS. 

The follow-up to MMOTHS EP (2012) and Diaries EP (2013) was entirely written, composed, produced and performed by Colleran and will be available on Because Music/OYAE. 

Today, MMOTHS shares the video for ‘Deu’, the first track to be heard from his forthcoming debut LP. The video was filmed by Hassan Rahim & Scott J. Ross.

The Cheltenham Jazz Festival returns from April 27th – May 2nd 2016 with its trademark mix of international jazz stars, homegrown talent and up-and-coming new artists. With the majority of the programme still to be announced, the festival has released details of the first wave of acts confirmed to perform at next year’s event.

Making his Cheltenham debut is the Grammy-nominated US trumpeter Christian Scott aTundeAdjuah, who brings a 9-piece band to the festival to perform music from groundbreaking new album Stretch Music. Cage the Elephant, who release their new album ‘Tell Me I’m Pretty’ through Columbia Records on 18th December, have confirmed a string of European shows in February. The gigs will be the bands’ first since playing with Foals at Alexandra Palace in Feb 2014. The Times raved about those shows, reporting, “charismatic singer Matt Shultz ended stripped to the waist, upside down in the crowd, feet flailing above the heads around him”. On Dead Waves, Mute’s latest signing, have unveiled the video and a free download for their debut track, Blackbird. 

Blackbird is taken from On Dead Waves debut album, set for release in spring 2016. The album itself documents dark memories, and buried emotions, Blackbird gives us a taste of what to expect from the world of On Dead Waves.

The video, directed by award winning Polish filmmaker Lukasz Pytlik, amplifies the song’s melancholic yearning with its vivid depiction of the changing of the seasons.
